YouTube Revenue Sharing Problems Starting in February 2027...

I make nothing from Ads playing on my TECH channel videos . This channel still needs more watch hours and subscribers to reach the 2nd tier of the YouTube Partner Program. YouTube is changing their policy on that 2nd tier with revenue sharing. Starting in February 2027,  it will basically be twice as difficult to reach what is needed. I currently need around 1000 additional watch hours, but after that point I'll need ~5000 hours based on my current statistics. It feels unlikely that I'll reach an additional 1/4th of my current viewership in time. This will be a real setback to the viability of the channel.  Check out the video where they state that the money "isn't significant" to creators:  They are changing the requirement to 8000 hours instead of 4000 in a rolling 365 day count. Keep in mind that vertical videos don't count toward this. The subscribers needed stays the same at 1000 or more, so I need around 250 more of you all to join me there as well.  Yo...

Vintage Computer Festival Midwest Chats & Interviews

The Vintage Computer Festival Midwest is a fun event in the Chicago suburbs. It's a chance to connect with fellow enthusiasts and see some incredible vintage hardware. I wanted to show a bit of my exploring and conversations with people. This was my second time visiting.  A lenticular  Commodore 64 motherboard image on display. I was immediately drawn to a display featuring a Commodore 64 motherboard. The presenter even had a cool visual effect: if you moved your head back and forth, the RF shield appeared to lift off, revealing the components underneath! Also the glass acted like an actual magnifying glass, which was neat to look through. 100 year old typewriter next to the C64 photo. Taking photos. A typewriter collector had brought a piece that was almost a century old, stating that he picked it up for cheap at a garage sale. A whole table full of various types of camera technology. A view of various MSX computers on a table. Various MSX computers were on display, representing ...

Comment on the TikTok ban from a technology perspective.

What good is a country that censors what citizens see? Doesn't one side claim to be a bastion of freedom? It goes both ways. Let's see how it plays out. Starting to feel like more of a "we can't lose big tech" or "we don't want to lose our political positions" than anything else. 🤷  The AP article saying Biden will not take action in his term. Finally a bit of common sense. See the latest news here:  https://apnews.com/article/tiktok-ban-trump-executive-order-1e95d9836bf6f8c0c245ed1c3234d968  If there were real security concerns, then our government should work with Alphabet (Google) and Apple to have their mobile operating systems prevent various forms of information from being gathered and transferred through *all* apps on their platforms.  I'll be talking about Android because I have pretty much no experience using Apple devices.  Ever have an Android app literally harass you asking to share your contacts? At least on Android phones, you lite...

OBS & Twitch multitrack is live, Intel CPUs crashing, Weird PSU, LTT site, and more in TECH Talk

I posted a technology news video on my related channel. These days OBS is a program I use a lot for all of my online video work! It's nice to see it is getting sustained development. Sadly, it doesn't look like the the Application Audio Capture beta functionality was worked on. I use that feature due to what it offers, but it doesn't work amazingly well with my current PC hardware and operating system. I get garbled sound from audio sources randomly.  Timecodes from the video:  0:00 Multitrack Video live on Twitch  2:06 Intel 13 and 14th gen high-end CPU problems 2:31 Intel ARC tested on 250 games.  2:53 Lian Li's weird edge PSU 3:27 Realtek 5Gb ethernet getting cheaper  3:41 CUDIMM memory standard added to the list  4:19 LTT website is live and Gamer's Nexus site talk  Information and links from the video:  The OBS Project information:  https://obsproject.com/   https://github.com/obsproject/obs-studio/releases/tag/30.2.0   https://obsproject.com/kb/application-aud...
